About Judith

Judith Graham is a local artist working from her studio in Seaforth, NSW, Australia since 2004.

Having lived abroad for several years in Ireland, the UK, France, Belgium and the U.S., where she opened and ran art studios, she has returned to her native Australia.

Judith works in oils making studies of local areas, from street scenes to cafes to seascapes, all with a curiosity about the slightly quirky side of life. Observing the strange in the familiar, she gives her compositions a liberal dose of peripheral vision, a trade mark of her style.

Perspective is bent to include key aspects of the scene, inviting the viewer into a more selective and private viewpoint – another dimension to the everydayness of life.

Her work was featured in the February 2010 issue of Home Beautiful magazine in “Art Watch”.

Judith’s work to date forms the following series of paintings:

  • The French Series
  • The Ocean Baths Series
  • Strange but Familiar
  • Submergia
  • Fairy Bower Revisited
  • Vertical Glimpses

The painting needs to ‘belong’ within its boundaries, I don’t make inclusions gratuitously just to even up the picture plane.
